About backflow preventers

Backflow preventers protect potable water supplies from contamination by reverse flow through a cross-connection, which can occur when supply pressure drops. Device selection follows the fluid-risk categories of EN 1717: reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies for the higher risk categories and double check valve assemblies for lower ones. They are made in bronze, gunmetal and stainless steel with threaded or flanged connections and require periodic testing. Provide the connection size, the fluid-risk category and the operating pressure for a suitable device.
