Features

  • Ball lifts away from seat before rotation, eliminating ball-to-seat friction during opening and closing
  • Zero downstream leakage achieved by single static seat design
  • Single seat design avoids pressure build-up associated with double-seated designs
  • Mechanical wedge seal: inclined surface at base of stem creates wedge force to maintain tight ball-to-seat contact
  • Self-cleaning: when ball is off seat, medium flows 360° around the sealing surface removing debris
  • Top entry design allows inline inspection and maintenance after pipeline depressurisation
  • Dual stem guides ensure smooth linear travel and rotation along guide pins
  • Injectable packing port on stem for online emission control and maintenance (applicable to models with sealed cover)
  • All-metal, fire-resistant construction
  • Hard alloy overlay on ball sealing surfaces, polished for seal integrity
  • Low operating torque; small handwheel sufficient for most sizes without gearbox
  • Full-bore and reduced-bore options both maintain high Cv values when open
  • NACE compliant for corrosive and sulphide stress cracking environments

Description

A top-entry rising stem ball valve constructed entirely of metal, designed to operate without friction between the ball and seat during opening and to achieve zero downstream leakage when closed. The ball lifts away from the seat before rotating, eliminating ball-to-seat friction. A mechanical wedge seal via an inclined stem base maintains tight ball-to-seat contact. A self-cleaning mechanism allows fluid to flow 360° around the ball sealing surface when the ball is lifted off the seat. The valve is fire-resistant and NACE compliant for sulphide stress cracking resistance. Available in full-bore and reduced-bore configurations with top-entry design for inline maintenance.

Selection notes

This ball valve is a rising stem, hard seat and top entry pattern.

Sizes run DN50 to DN600, in PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160, PN250, PN320, PN400, PN420, Class 150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, Class 2500.

The body is offered in Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Alloy Steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include petroleum, chemical media, media with particulates (sand, short fibres), oil, gas and natural gas.

It is catalogued for Water & Wastewater.

Working temperature is -60°C to 350°C.

Built to NACE.

Supplier remarks

  • Gearbox required for very large sizes
  • Injectable packing applicable to all models with a sealed cover

Special Ball Valve configurations

View full Special Ball Valve system →
This product is part of the Special Ball Valve modular system. All configurations share the same hydraulically operated body: the control function is set by the pilot valve(s) attached. An existing Special Ball Valve body in the field can be reconfigured for a different duty simply by swapping the pilot, without replacing the body.
