Features

  • Internal bladder physically separates pressurised air from pipeline fluid, preventing air absorption and maintaining the cushion volume indefinitely without compressor intervention
  • Absorbs positive and negative pressure transients caused by pump trip or rapid valve closure, protecting mains and equipment from water hammer damage
  • Butyl bladder variants ACS-certified or WRAS-approved for potable water service; polyurethane bladders for general service
  • Carbon steel or stainless steel pressure shell; design per client specification and site hydraulic analysis
  • Capacities from 100 litres to 120,000 litres, sized per transient hydraulic analysis
  • Manufactured to PED 97/23/EC and internationally recognised pressure vessel codes including EN 13445 and ASME VIII-Div.1

Description

A hydropneumatic surge vessel with an internal bladder that physically separates the pressurised air charge from the pipeline fluid. When pump trip or rapid valve closure causes a pressure transient, the compressed air cushion absorbs the energy and limits the magnitude of the positive and negative pressure wave. The bladder prevents air absorption into the water, maintaining the cushion volume indefinitely without compressor intervention. Available in potable water service with ACS-certified or WRAS-approved butyl bladders, or in general service with polyurethane bladders. Carbon steel or stainless steel shell, custom-sized per hydraulic transient analysis from 100 litres to 120,000 litres.

Selection notes

This surge vessel is a bladder type and hydropneumatic pattern, supplied for flanged installation.

Sizes run 100L to 120,000L.

The body is offered in Carbon steel and Stainless steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include potable water, raw water, wastewater and irrigation water.

It is catalogued for Water & Wastewater and Industrial Process.

Built to PED 97/23/EC, EN 13445, ASME VIII-Div.1, PD 5500 and CODAP 2000.
