Features

  • Air cushion in direct contact with pipeline fluid absorbs positive and negative pressure transients caused by pump trip or rapid valve closure
  • Integrated compressor variant maintains air volume on a timed or pressure-actuated cycle, compensating for dissolved air loss over time
  • Passive suction cup variant replenishes air without external power, suited to remote or unmanned installations
  • Carbon steel or stainless steel pressure shell; design per client specification and site hydraulic analysis
  • Capacities from 100 litres to 120,000 litres, sized per transient hydraulic analysis
  • Manufactured to PED 97/23/EC and internationally recognised pressure vessel codes including EN 13445 and ASME VIII-Div.1

Description

A hydropneumatic surge vessel in which the pressurised air cushion is in direct contact with the pipeline fluid. When pump trip or valve closure causes a pressure transient, the air charge absorbs surge energy and limits pressure wave magnitude. The air volume is maintained either by an integrated compressor on a timed or pressure-actuated cycle, or by an automatic suction cup that replenishes dissolved air as the cushion contracts. The open (bladderless) design is suited to raw water, irrigation and industrial applications where direct air-water contact is acceptable. Carbon steel or stainless steel shell, custom-sized from 100 litres to 120,000 litres per hydraulic transient analysis.

Selection notes

This surge vessel is a open type and hydropneumatic pattern.

Sizes run 100L to 120,000L.

The body is offered in Carbon steel and Stainless steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include raw water, irrigation water, wastewater and industrial process water.

It is catalogued for Water & Wastewater and Industrial Process.

Built to PED 97/23/EC, EN 13445, ASME VIII-Div.1, PD 5500 and CODAP 2000.
