Temperature by material

The temperature limit follows the material grade, so the range above spans every grade offered rather than any one build. Confirmed at quotation.

Alloy Steel
-29°C to 120°C
Stainless Steel
-196°C to 120°C (cryogenic service requires an extended bonnet and a BS 6364 type test)

Operating media

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)Cryogenic media

Typical applications

  • Liquefied natural gas (LNG) process systems
  • Flow regulation and system pressure control
  • Chemical process

Actuation options

Manual leverPneumatic single-actingElectric 230V AC

Features

  • Triple eccentric design with stem axis offset from disc centre and body centre, and rotational axis at an angle to body channel axis
  • Conical metal-to-metal sealing surfaces forming elliptical contact; sealing tightens under increased pressure
  • Inherently fire resistant and fire tested metal-to-metal seals
  • Inspection port design enabling online (field) replacement of seat and seal without removing the valve from the line
  • Extended bonnet plus drip tray maintains stuffing box temperature above 0 °C to prevent stem/packing freeze-lock
  • Fully adjustable, field-replaceable stem packing system meeting fugitive emission certification standards
  • Tortoise shell-type butterfly disc profile optimises Cv/Kv by maximising flow and reducing resistance
  • Three-dimensional simulation optimisation used to control material behaviour under cryogenic conditions
  • Compact and lightweight construction
  • No abnormal valve cavity pressure build-up
  • Eccentric design reduces operating torque and friction during opening/closing
  • Self-locking characteristic: disc becomes tighter under pressure when closed

Description

Cryogenic triple eccentric butterfly valve available in flanged and butt-welding end connection forms, both incorporating inspection ports for online replacement of internals. The extended bonnet and drip tray design maintains stuffing box temperature above zero degrees Celsius to prevent stem freezing. Tortoise shell-type butterfly disc profile optimises flow coefficient. Suitable for cryogenic media including liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Selection notes

This cryogenic butterfly valve is a triple eccentric butterfly valve pattern, supplied for flanged and butt weld installation.

Sizes run DN15 to DN600, in PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160, PN250, PN320, PN400, PN420, Class 150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, Class 2500.

The body is offered in Stainless Steel and Alloy Steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include liquefied natural gas (lng) and cryogenic media.

It is catalogued for Oil & Gas.

Working temperature is -196°C to 120°C, by material.

Cryogenic Valves configurations

View full Cryogenic Valves system →
This product is part of the Cryogenic Valves modular system. All configurations share the same hydraulically operated body: the control function is set by the pilot valve(s) attached. An existing Cryogenic Valves body in the field can be reconfigured for a different duty simply by swapping the pilot, without replacing the body.
