Temperature by material

The temperature limit follows the material grade, so the range above spans every grade offered rather than any one build. Confirmed at quotation.

Alloy Steel
-29°C to 150°C
Stainless Steel
-196°C to 150°C (cryogenic service requires an extended bonnet and a BS 6364 type test)

Operating media

Typical applications

  • LNG terminals and pipelines
  • LPG service
  • Cryogenic low-temperature conditions
  • Long-distance oil, gas, and natural gas pipelines

Actuation options

Manual leverPneumatic single-actingElectric 230V AC

Features

  • Long-neck bonnet design: bonnet neck extended to reduce cold transmission to operating mechanism and prevent packing from freezing; neck length calculated based on thermal conductivity and heat dissipation coefficient of material to ensure packing box bottom temperature remains above 0 °C
  • Anti-abnormal-pressure-rise structure: pressure relief hole on inlet side of gate plate allows cavity pressure to vent, preventing gate plate from being locked against seat
  • Gate movement perpendicular to fluid flow direction
  • Two wedge-shaped sealing surfaces; wedge angle varies with valve parameters
  • Full-open and full-closed service only; no throttling or regulation

Description

A cryogenic gate valve designed exclusively for fully open or fully closed service; throttling and flow regulation are not possible. The opening and closing element is a wedge-shaped gate that travels perpendicular to the fluid flow direction. The valve incorporates a long-neck bonnet to prevent cold transmission to the operating mechanism and an anti-abnormal-pressure-rise relief hole on the inlet side of the gate.

Selection notes

This cryogenic gate valve is a wedge gate valve and long-neck bonnet gate valve pattern.

Sizes run DN15 to DN600, in Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, Class 2500.

The body is offered in Stainless Steel and Alloy Steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include lng, lpg, liquid natural gas, oil, gas and natural gas.

It is catalogued for Oil & Gas.

Working temperature is -196°C to 150°C, by material.

Cryogenic Valves configurations

View full Cryogenic Valves system →
This product is part of the Cryogenic Valves modular system. All configurations share the same hydraulically operated body: the control function is set by the pilot valve(s) attached. An existing Cryogenic Valves body in the field can be reconfigured for a different duty simply by swapping the pilot, without replacing the body.
