Temperature by material

The temperature limit follows the material grade, so the range above spans every grade offered rather than any one build. Confirmed at quotation.

Alloy Steel
-29°C to 150°C
Stainless Steel
-196°C to 150°C (cryogenic service requires an extended bonnet and a BS 6364 type test)

Operating media

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)Liquid NitrogenLPGOilGasNatural Gas

Typical applications

  • LNG
  • LPG
  • Cryogenic fluid control
  • Long-distance oil and gas pipelines
  • Natural gas pipelines

Actuation options

Manual leverPneumatic single-actingElectric 230V AC

Features

  • C-type body profile reduces fluid turbulence and pressure loss
  • Top entry design permits removal and installation of ball and seat without removing valve from pipeline
  • Fixed ball design reduces fluid erosion of the ball and extends service life
  • Constructed from materials suitable for ultra-low temperature environments (stainless steel, nickel-based alloy)
  • PCTFE sealing material provides good low-temperature sealing performance
  • Optional thermal insulation layer to prevent external heat ingress and maintain ultra-low fluid temperature

Description

Top entry, fixed ball, C-type body ball valve designed for ultra-low temperature service. The C-shaped body profile reduces fluid turbulence and pressure loss, while the top entry configuration allows removal and installation of the ball and seat without removing the valve from the pipeline. Constructed from stainless steel and alloy steel with low-temperature sealing materials such as PCTFE.

Selection notes

This cryogenic ball valve is a top entry ball valve, fixed ball valve and c-type ball valve pattern.

Sizes run NPS 1/2" to NPS 24", in PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160, PN250, PN320, PN400, PN420, Class 150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500, Class 2500.

The body is offered in Stainless Steel and Alloy Steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include liquefied natural gas (lng), liquid nitrogen, lpg, oil, gas and natural gas.

It is catalogued for Oil & Gas.

Working temperature is -196°C to 150°C, by material.

Supplier remarks

  • Operator options include Manual, Pneumatic, Electric, etc.
  • Thermal insulation layer is optional (valve may be equipped with)

Cryogenic Valves configurations

View full Cryogenic Valves system →
This product is part of the Cryogenic Valves modular system. All configurations share the same hydraulically operated body: the control function is set by the pilot valve(s) attached. An existing Cryogenic Valves body in the field can be reconfigured for a different duty simply by swapping the pilot, without replacing the body.
