Temperature by material

The temperature limit follows the material grade, so the range above spans every grade offered rather than any one build. Confirmed at quotation.

Alloy Steel
-29°C to 120°C
Low Temperature Steel
-46°C to 120°C
Stainless Steel
-196°C to 120°C (cryogenic service requires an extended bonnet and a BS 6364 type test)

Operating media

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)Liquid nitrogenRefrigerantsLiquid food

Typical applications

  • LNG process systems: flow regulation and system pressure control
  • Chemical process systems: refrigerant liquid nitrogen transport
  • Air separation plants
  • Food processing: liquid food delivery systems

Features

  • Deep cold treatment process applied to body materials for reliable performance at -196°C
  • Lateral (side) maintenance port allows replacement of sealing components without removing valve from line
  • Double eccentric butterfly plate geometry
  • Extended valve stem with anti-heat-bridge design to prevent cold energy conduction into actuator
  • Long service life under ultra-low temperature conditions

Description

A double eccentric butterfly valve designed for cryogenic service with operating temperatures down to -196°C, using special stainless steel or low-temperature alloy valve bodies subjected to deep cold treatment. Features a lateral maintenance port allowing sealing component replacement without removing the valve from the pipeline. Equipped with an extended valve stem and anti-heat-bridge design to prevent cold energy conduction.

Selection notes

This cryogenic butterfly valve is a double eccentric butterfly valve and metal seated butterfly valve pattern.

Sizes run DN150 to DN2000, in PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40.

The body is offered in Low Temperature Steel, Stainless Steel and Alloy Steel, so the grade can be matched to the service rather than the other way round.

Stated service media include liquefied natural gas (lng), liquid nitrogen, refrigerants and liquid food.

It is catalogued for Oil & Gas.

Working temperature is -196°C to 120°C, by material.

Built to Complies with international standards (unspecified).

Cryogenic Valves configurations

View full Cryogenic Valves system →
This product is part of the Cryogenic Valves modular system. All configurations share the same hydraulically operated body: the control function is set by the pilot valve(s) attached. An existing Cryogenic Valves body in the field can be reconfigured for a different duty simply by swapping the pilot, without replacing the body.
